5 from FCASD Place First in State Science Competition

Five Fox Chapel Area School District students recently won awards in the State Competition of the Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science (PJAS). Fox Chapel Area first-place state winners were juniors Lawrence Liu and Arvind Seshan; sophomores Lakshanya Rajaganapathi and Adhitya Thirumala; and seventh-grader Param Thawani. Additionally, Lawrence and Lakshanya also received Perfect Score awards.

The participating Fox Chapel Area High School and Dorseyville Middle School students were among students in grades 7-12 from across Pennsylvania who competed in the state PJAS competition. The students researched their science projects for several months and were required to give an oral presentation on their projects in front of a panel of judges.

The state competition was held at Penn State University (Main Campus) May 15-17, 2022. All of the Fox Chapel Area students participating at the state level were named first-place winners at the virtual 88th Annual Region 7 Meeting of the PJAS this past winter.
