Dr. Michael Hower has been with Fox Chapel Area School District since March of 2004. Dr. Hower joined the district as an assistant principal for Fox Chapel Area High School. He served in this role for three years before becoming intermediate principal in 2007. In 2008, after one year, Dr. Hower became the senior/lead principal.
Dr. Hower began his career as a biology teacher in the Highlands School District. In addition to this role, he served as the math/science curriculum manager for grades six-twelve. He then served as assistant principal in the Highlands Middle School and Highlands High School before coming to the Fox Chapel Area School District.
Dr. Hower received his Bachelor of Arts degree in biology and molecular biology from Westminster College and his Master of Arts degree in teaching integrated science and math from Slippery Rock University. Dr. Hower continued his education at the University of Pittsburgh, acquiring certifications in elementary and secondary administration, as well as the superintendent letter of eligibility and his doctorate in educational leadership.
