According to Fox Chapel Area School Board President Somer Obernauer Jr., Dr. Reljac will provide the steadfast leadership necessary to propel the district for years to come.

“We conducted a nationwide search, but, ironically, we found the perfect candidate right here in our own backyard,” he says. “We are confident that Dr. Reljac will be able to engage all district stakeholders, promote a culture of inclusivity, and build upon the district’s already proven reputation of excellence.”

Dr. Reljac says that she is “passionate about preparing students to be thinkers who can achieve in the moment and in the future, passionate about developing staff members to be continuous learners who are able to use their skills and knowledge to shape student learning, and passionate about working with communities to develop public schools that reflect their goals and desires for their children while imagining ‘what can be’ in the future.”

“I understand the immense responsibility of leading a school district and treasure every opportunity that I have had to do just that in my career,” Dr. Reljac says. “I am humbled and honored by the opportunity to lead the Fox Chapel Area School District as its superintendent of schools. I am also looking forward to serving the students, families, staff, and communities in the school district and collaborating with the entire Fox Chapel Area family to continue to grow and achieve together.”

Dr. Reljac has served as a presenter and facilitator for many workshops and programs during the last 20 years. She has also received numerous awards and honors, most recently the Tri-State Area School Study Council’s 2019 Jean E. Winsand Distinguished Woman in Education Award through the University of Pittsburgh.

Dr. Reljac received her doctorate of education from the University of Pittsburgh in 2016. She received her superintendent letter of eligibility in 2008 from California University of Pennsylvania. She also has a master of science degree in educational leadership from Carlow University (2001), and a bachelor of science in music education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania (1995).

Dr. Reljac resides in Aspinwall with her husband, Jason, a manager in the technology group at Schneider Downs & Co. Inc.

She will begin her job upon release from her present employer and hopes to officially start in the Fox Chapel Area School District on or before August 1.
