Sharpsburg Resident Appointed to Fill Unexpired Term on Fox Chapel Area School Board
The Fox Chapel Area Board of School Directors has appointed Sharpsburg resident Amy Cooper to fill the unexpired term of Lisa Rutkowski in Region I. Mrs. Cooper has worked in higher education for more than a decade in various administrative roles. She currently works at Chatham University as the IM4Q (Independent Monitoring 4 Quality) monitor and as an office administrator. She has also worked at The Open Door (a missional church community in Pittsburgh) and Point Park University. Mrs. Cooper is an active volunteer at Kerr Elementary School and is the president of the Kerr PTO. Additionally, she is actively involved in the Sharpsburg community.
Mrs. Cooper has a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Pittsburgh and a master of arts degree in liberal & professional studies from Towson University. An 11½-year resident of the district, she and her husband, James, have two young children in the district.
The Fox Chapel Area Board of School Directors held a special meeting March 9, 2020, to interview interested candidates and appoint a resident to fill the vacant seat. Mrs. Rutkowski, who had served on the Fox Chapel Area School Board since May 2014, resigned in February 2020. Mrs. Cooper will serve on the Board until the 2021 municipal election cycle.
Region I covers all of Sharpsburg Borough and Wards 2, 3, and 4 of O’Hara Township.
