Officer Josh Dietz's law enforcement career began with four years of active duty in the Coast Guard. Among his missions for the Coast Guard were search and rescue, law enforcement, drug interdiction, and fishing regulations. Officer Dietz then spent 17 years in the Coast Guard Reserve stationed at MSU (Marine Safety Unit) Pittsburgh, where he was a maritime law enforcement specialist. He retired in 2017. He began his career in 2002 as a police officer at Carlow University, eventually being promoted to corporal. He has also served as a police officer for a number of different municipalities and currently also works for the UPMC Police Department, for which he is a sergeant stationed at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh.
