Fairview Elementary Teams Place First in Science Bowl
Two teams of Fairview Elementary students tied for first place in the grades four and five division of the 2022 Science Bowl. The teams consisted of fifth-graders Bettis Bierenbaum, Elisabeth Lange, Salam Saidi, Glenn Story, Alejandro Torres-Smalley, Linden Trac, and Maya Vyas, and fourth-grader Om Vemulapalli.
The competition was held at the Carnegie Museum of Natural History. As part of the event, students participated in a scavenger hunt in the wildlife exhibit, a trivia questionnaire of artifacts in the minerals and gems section, and a creative writing task based on information and facts collected in the dinosaur exhibit.
Fourth- and fifth-grade students from schools from across the region competed in the contest. The Science Bowl, held on March 9, was sponsored by the Allegheny Intermediate Unit and the Carnegie Museum of Natural History.
