Student Qualifies to Take National Math Exam

Fox Chapel Area High School senior Arman Alborzi has qualified to take the Mathematical Association of America (MAA) American Invitational Mathematics Examination (AIME). Arman qualified to take the national exam as a result of his distinguished performance on the American Mathematics Competition (AMC) 12 in November 2025. The AIME is a three-hour, 15-question, invitation-only mathematics exam.

Founded in 1950, the AMC is the pre-eminent math competition for students in kindergarten through grade 12. Every year, more than 300,000 students in 50 states and over 30 countries take the AMC. The AMC program is a national effort to strengthen the mathematical capabilities of the next generation of innovators. Students who performed exceptionally well on the AMC are invited to participate in the AIME.
