Fox Chapel Area Adult Education Spring 2025 Registration Open

Fox Chapel Area Adult Education Spring 2025 Registration Open

For 62 years, Fox Chapel Area Adult Education (FCAAE) has invited adults from all neighborhoods, not just the local community, to enjoy a wide variety of adult enrichment opportunities. This spring is no exception!

Registration recently opened for Spring 2025 classes. Brand-new offerings join returning favorites to provide adults with more than 60 opportunities to learn, discover, and thrive!

FCAAE exists to provide adults with access to the Fox Chapel Area School District's facilities, the pool being a major one. Whether you are looking for family fun in the pool, lap swimming, aqua exercise classes - both deep-water high intensity, as well as fitness in the shallow end, swimming lessons, or customized coaching and a tailored workout plan in FCAAE’s new one-hour “So You Want To Be A Better Swimmer” workshop, FCAAE offers it! Or maybe you like to cook … or enjoy learning more about spirits? Enjoy cooking Middle Eastern dishes. Have fun making your own limoncello or attending a “Cocktails 101” class.

Spend an evening exploring history focused on “Presidential Assassinations: Tragedy and Legacy” or “Northern Ireland: The Troubles.” Learn more Spanish with Diana Morales in a new mini-series. Take your iPhone pictures to the next level under the training of professional photographer Randi Voss. Learn to play “Guitar” in a new series that also teaches basic music theory.

Try a new art class or spend time improving your skills. Whether it’s “Jewelry: Create A Sterling Silver Ring,” Pottery: Hand Building and/or Wheel Throwing, “Painting with Oils,” the all-new “Calligraphy: Beyond the Basics,” or “Drawing: Spring Flowers” - FCAAE offers these and more. Learn a new skill in “Sewing Basics: Create A Spring Tote” or “Cross Stitch 101” and leave with a completed project, “Drawing Spring Flowers.”

Get exercise and enjoy team sports with “Basketball for Adults,” which offers weekly, no-pressure, pick-up games for adults of all levels. If you enjoy pickleball, FCAAE offers “Lessons for Beginners or Beyond Beginners,” “Guaranteed Weekly Round Robin Games,” and an all-new “Coached Play” mini-series. Stay fit in the privacy of your own home with Zoom fitness classes, including “At Home Men’s and Women’s Fitness & Strength Training,” and “Chair TriYoga.” Or try a wide variety of in-person workouts, including “Exercising with Osteoporosis,” “Women’s Fitness and Strength Training” using the FCAHS fitness center machines, “Yoga with Diane,” or the fun of “Line Dancing.”

If you like to focus on home and garden topics, learn about “Succulents,” join a certified arborist for “Care and Pruning of your Shrubs and Trees” or join “Native Garden Design” and leave with a free tree.

Mah Jongg is growing in popularity and FCAAE offers a unique way to learn the game that includes weeks focused on playing games under the guidance of the instructor.

These courses and many more are at your fingertips when you go online to www.fcaae.org and sign up. Geography plays no part in who can join in on the fun and lifelong learning. So, invite your friends!

Remember, FCAAE has “gone green.” FCAAE now takes advantage of the ease and efficiency of technology to distribute class and program information in a more environmental, efficient, and economical method. Know immediately if you - and your friends - are enrolled. Class and registration updates are now sent using email and social media. If you want to avoid being disappointed by classes that sell out almost instantly, join the FCAAE email list and follow FCAAE on Facebook and Instagram. Of course, FCAAE also still offers phone and email assistance to answer questions and provide help with registration or technology.
