Seven Fox Chapel Area High School students were chosen to participate in the 2025 Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) District 1 Honors String Orchestra Festival.  The students are seniors Xing Carlough (viola), Michael Costello (bass), and Charles Hahl (cello); juniors Ozlem Sayrak (cello) and Leonidas Vandapel (cello); and sophomores Philip Johnson (bass) and Ayden Wang (violin).

Approximately 250 students from across the greater Pittsburgh area auditioned, and only 90 were chosen to participate. The students rehearsed on November 15 and 16, and the festival culminated with a concert on November 16 at Carson Middle School in the North Allegheny School District.

The orchestra was conducted by Scott Laird, instructor of music and chair of fine arts at the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics.
