DMS Students Selected for PMEA District 1 Junior High Band
Four Dorseyville Middle School students were selected by committee to perform with the 2024 Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) District 1 Junior High Band. The students are eighth-graders Ethan Beresik (trombone), Annabel Berkowitz (bassoon), and Claire Lesnik (trumpet), and seventh-grader Leah Sparks (tenor saxophone). The band included approximately 105 of the most talented seventh-, eighth-, and ninth-grade band students from Allegheny, Fayette, Greene, Washington, and Westmoreland counties.
The PMEA District 1 Junior High Band Festival was held February 15 and 16, 2024, at Yough Intermediate Middle School and culminated with a concert. The concert was directed by Chad Heiny, a multifaceted freelance musician and educator, as well as a versatile and regularly commissioned composer residing in the Greater Pittsburgh area.
