This workshop is designed for rising high school seniors (from any school district) wishing to prepare a stellar college application. Whole group instruction and one-on-one mentoring will be provided by an English teacher with a Master of Fine Arts degree in Writing and more than 20 years of experience with the Ivy League application process. Participants will construct two top-notch college essays of their choice that will help to set them apart from other applicants.

  • Unique approaches to college essay writing
  • How to make the writer’s authentic voice emerge
  • What to do prior to the start of senior year
  • College interviews and scholarships


  1. Students must have access to a laptop computer, email, and Internet.
  2. Students must have a basic understanding of how to use Google Docs.
  3. Students must meet deadlines, welcome constructive criticism, and be willing to work on multiple revisions and rewrites as suggested by the instructor in order to create the best possible essays.


The $400 registration fee (payable to FCASD) includes three Saturday workshop sessions and one-on-one guidance provided by the instructor over the subsequent 3-month period to facilitate construction and submission of essays.

Space is extremely limited!  Spots will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
