Sari L. Brecosky comes to Fox Chapel Area School District as the director of literacy. Prior to her current position she served as the coordinator of curriculum and reading at the Allegheny Intermediate Unit. During that time, she created the Reading Achievement Center (RAC) that is recognized statewide. The RAC was designed to advance student learning by providing pertinent, research-based practices to teachers. Additionally, she has served on many committees and championed state initiatives managed by the Pennsylvania Department of Education. Mrs. Brecosky has presented workshops to thousands of teachers in the course of her career and is a known literacy expert.
Mrs. Brecosky has extensive experience in curriculum design, development of instructional practice, pedagogy, and data analysis. Her background includes teaching K-12, college-level students, teachers, and administrators. She has consulted with school districts nationally and has been contracted by various software companies to assist in writing and designing reading programs.
As the director of literacy in the Fox Chapel Area School District Mrs. Brecosky's intent is to make a positive academic difference in the district.
