Students Selected for PMEA Honors Band
Eight Fox Chapel Area High School students were recently selected to perform with the 2015 Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) District 1 Honors Band. Senior Olivia Van Dyke (oboe); juniors Rohan Chalasani (flute) and Philip Swigon (bassoon); sophomores Benjamin Franks-Meinert (bassoon), Elizabeth Mountz (oboe), and Zachary Zytnick (clarinet); and freshmen Hannah Kim (flute) and Glenna Van Dyke (clarinet) were selected by audition to perform with the band. The band is comprised of approximately 120 of the best student-musicians from Allegheny, Fayette, Greene, Washington, and Westmoreland counties.
The PMEA District 1 Honors Band concert will be held November 22 at Bethel Park High School. The band will be conducted by nationally- and internationally-known award-winning composer, conductor, producer, and performer Brian Balmages.
