Students Place at OSU Model UN Conference
Eight Fox Chapel Area High School students won individual awards at the Ohio State University Model United Nations (UN) Conference. Senior Tristan McClelland and junior Rajeev Godse each received Best Delegate awards (first place); sophomore Jackson Romero won Outstanding Delegate (second place); and junior Sina Shaikh and sophomore Anthony Nguyen won Honorable Mentions (third place). Verbal Commendations (fourth place) went to sophomores Aidan Ireland and Matthew Zytnick and freshman Patrick Alexander.
Additionally, the Fox Chapel Area High School team as a whole won the Outstanding Large School Delegation award (second place overall among schools with more than 20 students competing at the conference). The entire team included seniors Isabella Boleng, Tristan McClelland, Grace Stasolla, and Ziya Xu; juniors Hanna Chen, Oskar Ernharth, George Georges, Rajeev Godse, Gavin Hitchens, Henry Jacques, Casey Monroe, Boomba Nishikawa, Sina Shaikh, Helene Tracey, and Angelique Uku; sophomores Suparna Agrawal, Aidan Ireland, Anthony Nguyen, Abigail Rickin-Marks, Cecilia Rike, Jackson Romero, and Matthew Zytnick; and freshmen Patrick Alexander, Alaina Kaslewicz, Janise Kim, Nathaniel Mueller, and Shrivardhan Thada.
Approximately 260 students representing 18 high schools from Illinois, Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Tennessee participated in the Ohio State University Model UN Conference. The conference was held April 5-7, 2019, in Columbus, Ohio.
The purpose of the Model UN conferences is to enable students to role-play and simulate the countries in the United Nations. As a part of the conferences, students debate and try to solve global problems from the perspectives of other countries.
