Students Place in German Day Competition
Fourteen Fox Chapel Area High School students recently placed in the annual Three Rivers German Day Competition. Sophomore Meredith Francis won second place in the fictional writing category. In the music presentation category, the team of seniors Mattias Ahlers, Isabella Boleng, Diana Crookston, Ruth Hartmann, Courtney Kennedy, Sarah Khanzada, Noah Manges, Alexandra Meinert, and Jes Sauereisen; juniors Henry Jacques and Alyssa Mattheis; and sophomores Henry Parker Burlingham and Katherine Cecil won third place for their performance of “Hampelmann.”
The Three Rivers German Day Competition was open to middle school and high school students from across Western Pennsylvania and West Virginia and was held March 7, 2019, at Washington & Jefferson College. More than 300 students participate in the event each year which is sponsored by the Western Pennsylvania/West Virginia Chapter of the American Association of Teachers of German (AATG).
