Students Chosen for Allegheny Valley Honors Band

Several Fox Chapel Area School District students were selected by audition to perform with the 2019 Allegheny Valley Honors Band. This group is comprised of select student musicians from the Fox Chapel Area, Hampton, North Allegheny, Northgate, North Hills, Pine-Richland, Riverview, and Shaler Area school districts. The students chosen were Fox Chapel Area High School seniors Isabela Berg, Megan Hayes, Noah Manges, Eric Moore, Glenna Van Dyke, and Seo Yeon Wang; juniors Roman DiSanti, Hannah Drum, Jacob Rendall, and Anzu Sekikawa; sophomores Madelyn Francis, Ari Gould, Saralynn Hagmaier, Nathaniel Kisslinger, Michael VanDemark, Joey Wang, and Matthew Zytnick; and freshmen Jonah Compton, Janise Kim, Miguel Quemado, and Siddharth Yende; and Dorseyville Middle School eighth graders Zoe Broyles, Elijah Conklin, Michael DeCecco, Sonny Hur, Lawrence Liu, George McDermott, Eliza Meyer, Silas Owens, Arvind Seshan, Ethan Tan, and Lans Taylor; and seventh graders Chloe Kim and Jack Lynch.

The Allegheny Valley Honors Band Festival was held at North Hills Middle School February 7 and 8. The conductors were Dr. Timothy Mahr, the conductor of the St. Olaf College Band in Minnesota, and Adam Gumble, director of athletic bands at West Chester University in Pennsylvania.
