Students Win First Place at Data Jam
A team of Fox Chapel Area High School students recently won first place in their division at the Pittsburgh Data Jam. The students are seniors Albert Liu, Andreas Paljug, and Max Wolfendale; juniors Arnav Gupta and Zachary Lakkis; and sophomores J. Oliver Choo and Rajeev Godse. The group’s presentation topic was “A Machine Learning Approach to Diagnosing Common Thorax Diseases.”
The purpose of the Pittsburgh Data Jam is to introduce high school students to big data and data analytics and to provide them with hands-on learning. The competition was held February 27, 2018, at the University of Pittsburgh and included 15 teams from across Allegheny County.
