Recent Grad Named Winner in National Stossel Essay Contest

A recent Fox Chapel Area High School graduate was named a winner in the national Stossel in the Classroom 2016-2017 essay contest. 2017 January graduate JP Ramassini was named a finalist and received a $200 cash award.

Students ages 12 to 18 were asked to write an essay about the technological revolution. The topic was, “Technological innovation has changed our lives, mostly for the better. But some innovation raises safety questions. Some threatens existing businesses. What should America do about that?” More than 2,200 essays were submitted by students from across the country, with 125 chosen as prize winners.

Stossel in the Classroom, a project of the nonprofit Center for Independent Thought, provides free curriculum materials to teachers, using video clips from John Stossel television shows and specials.
