Every student attending Fox Chapel Area High School is required to complete one or more summer readings prior to the start of the school year. In an effort to provide a wide variety of topics and genres, the Fox Chapel Area High School English Department has compiled an extensive list from which a student may choose his or her summer readings.

However, not every reading is appropriate for every child. As you are your child’s first teacher, we ask that you preview your child’s selection for the content as well as the appropriate level of reading prior to him or her starting the assignment. Because the selections must appeal to readers in grades 9 through 12, the maturity of the content covers a wide range and should be gauged by you.
