2021-2022 Updates

    • The PowerSchool parent portal will open after students’ schedules are finalized, at 9 a.m. August 10, 2021.

    • The mandatory PowerSchool Student Update form can be accessed on August 10, 2021, in the PowerSchool parent portal. As a reminder, the Fox Chapel Area School District requires online submission of the PowerSchool Student Update for each student. Once logged in to the PowerSchool parent portal, you can click on “PowerSchool Student Update 2021-2022” on the left-hand navigation menu to complete the information. Should you need any assistance completing the PowerSchool Student Update, please fill out a Community Help Desk ticket at go.fcasd.edu/community-help or reach out directly to Jill Leonard, community engagement specialist, at jill_leonard@fcasd.edu.

    • In order to provide efficient and effective service, Fox Chapel Area School District’s Office of Educational Technology asks that all parents/guardians who do not know their PowerSchool parent portal usernames and/or passwords to fill out a Community Help Desk ticket at any time beginning July 21, 2021, at go.fcasd.edu/community-help or reach out directly to Jill Leonard at jill_leonard@fcasd.edu.

    • The district’s device distribution plan will continue during the 2021-2022 school year. Information on borrowing a district-owned device can be found in the section below.

    • Parents and guardians have the option of participating in the district’s Annual Tech Fee Program, which has been reduced to $30 a year per student for the 2021-2022 school year. More information about FCASD's tech fee program can be found here.

Need a Device?

  • Elementary

    • Students in grades pre-kindergarten-2 will have the opportunity to borrow an iPad, and those in grades 3-5 may borrow a Chromebook starting at the beginning of the school year. All parents/guardians must complete the iPad & Chromebook Agreement Form, available at https://bit.ly/FCASDElemTechAgreement, regardless of whether your child will be taking home a district-owned device. Should you not want your child to borrow a device, please indicate that on the agreement form, and we will alert your child’s principal that his/her assigned device should remain at school for in-school use only. Devices will be distributed during computer science classes at the beginning of the first nine weeks.

    DMS

    • Students in grades 6-8 will be issued an iPad at the beginning of the school year. All guardians must complete the DMS iPad Agreement Form. The form is available at https://bit.ly/DMSiPadAgreement. Devices will be distributed during homebase at the beginning of the first nine weeks.

    FCAHS

    • Students in grades 9-12 will have the opportunity to use a personal device or borrow a Chromebook starting at the beginning of the school year. Students in courses that require a Mac will utilize Mac desktop computers in school as they had done previously rather than borrow a MacAir laptop. All parents/guardians requesting a device for their child(ren) must complete the FCAHS Chromebook Agreement Form. The form is available at https://bit.ly/FCAHSTechAgreement. Devices will be distributed to 9th-grade students during freshman orientation and to 10th- 11th- and 12th-graders from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. August 12 and August 13 at the FCAHS athletics entrance. Additionally, an evening distribution session will be held from 5-7 p.m. August 12. If neither of those options fits your family’s needs, please contact Melissa Wiest at melissa_wiest@fcasd.edu.
