Overview

  • We hope that our eighth-graders are having a successful year and are looking forward to coming to Fox Chapel Area High School in the fall of 2023! In order to help our eighth-graders transition to the high school, the high school administrative team has designed a series of activities that will be held over the next several months. Please mark your calendars!

Scheduling Night for All Eighth-Grade Parents/Guardians and Students
Wednesday, March 1, 2023, 6:30-8:30 p.m., Dorseyville Middle School Auditorium

This evening presentation is an opportunity for all current eighth-grade parents/guardians and their students to learn about the scheduling process and course options for their freshman year. Fox Chapel Area High School staff will be present at DMS to provide an overview of our freshman academic program, including valuable information about scheduling, elective options, graduation requirements, etc. Information regarding extracurricular activities, sports, clubs, etc. will NOT be presented at this time. Instead, that information will be presented at our Freshmen Parent Transition Night in August.

Note: In case of inclement weather on March 1, this event will be held on Wednesday, March 8 at the same time and in the same location. Emails and phone calls will be made to inform parents/guardians if inclement weather causes a postponement.

Scheduling Assembly for DMS Eighth-Grade Students
Thursday, March 2, 2023, during homebase, DMS auditorium

Fox Chapel Area High School counselors will travel to DMS to present the academic program to the eighth-grade students during the school day. Topics will include graduation requirements, grading practices, and courses available to rising freshmen. Students should use this information to begin choosing their freshman courses.

    Freshman Orientation for Students
TBD – Scheduled for the Week of August 14, FCAHS auditorium

Freshman orientation gives the students a chance to learn more about high school and, most importantly, provides an opportunity for them to follow their schedule, meet their first-semester teachers, and try out their locker and locker combinations. This activity is highly recommended for all freshmen, so they know where to go on the first day of school.

    Transition Night for Freshman Parents/Guardians
TBD – Scheduled for the Week of August 14, FCAHS auditorium

This program provides parents/guardians an opportunity to learn more about academics, student life, clubs, activities, sports, rules, policies, and procedures of the high school, and helps them know what to anticipate for the next four years. Students are welcome to attend with their parents/guardians.

Club & Activity Fair for Students
TBD – Scheduled for Early September, FCAHS Commons Area

A club and activity fair will be set up in the commons area for students to visit during their lunch period so that the students can see all of the extracurricular activities that are available to them. Students are encouraged to meet the sponsors and student officers, learn more about these activities, and sign up to participate.

Thank you, in advance, for putting these dates on your calendar. We look forward to welcoming you in person to Fox Chapel Area High School!
