Dear Fifth-Grade Parents and Guardians,

A parent orientation program has been planned for you on Wednesday, April 7, 2021, beginning at 6 p.m. This year, the program will be held via Zoom. Zoom details are below and will be posted to the DMS website. The evening will be divided into two sessions. First, I will begin with my (typically unsuccessful) attempt to amaze and dazzle parents with my extensive knowledge of the building and middle-level learners, and provide parents with information regarding how their children will spend their time at school. The second half of the evening will be breakout sessions of your choosing to deepen your understanding of specific content areas and programs (special education, math, literacy, unified arts, music, school counseling) offered at the middle school. Screencast videos will be available after the evening concludes if time does not permit you to attend all breakout sessions of interest. The evening orientation is for parents only. We will meet with all fifth-grade students at another time to provide information about the middle school. Your son or daughter will also receive an invitation to attend an open tour of DMS sometime in August from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.
