Overview
-
The Student Activities Office at Fox Chapel Area High School is a place where all students are welcome.
Located in the high school cafeteria, the office is open daily before and during QRT, and during all lunches. The activities department oversees all clubs, honor societies, and student government. Any student can join one or more of over 70 approved clubs. Each school year, a club week is held to showcase and recruit new members for the clubs. Most clubs meet during QRT, but some meet directly after school. Bus transportation home is available via an activity bus at 3:40 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.
If a student misses club week or wants to find another club to join, we ask that he or she contact the club’s lead student and/or the faculty sponsor. Club meetings are posted on the school calendar. Many clubs have a Schoology group to share club events and meetings as well.
FCAHS Student Government
All students at FCAHS can be part of its student government, which mirrors the U.S. government with executive and legislative branches. Every May, elections are held for senator positions for each of the district’s six municipalities. Nomination forms for interested Senate candidates are available in early March. The executive branch comprises juniors and seniors in good standing. The branch includes a president, vice president, secretary, and treasurer. Each position is outlined in the student government constitution. All senators and executive branch members are assigned to the Activities QRT to work on and plan different events. Every QRT has an elected representative that attends monthly joint sessions and votes on the different ideas for the high school.
Every year, the student government has three major projects: homecoming, the districtwide telethon, and prom. For homecoming, the student government coordinates the annual community carnival, a class skit competition, and the homecoming dance. The telethon is a month-long fundraising campaign for a district-chosen charity. We ask all clubs to help raise funds and end our celebration with a two-hour livestream “telethon” on the Swift Fox Media YouTube channel. Prom, held every spring, is the annual formal dinner dance for juniors and seniors.
