Teacher Receives PA Technology Innovator Award
Dorseyville Middle School gifted education teacher Cathie Gillner was chosen as a Keystones Technology Innovator and received the 2014 Keystone STAR. She is one of only 100 educators selected to receive the award this year which honors teachers throughout Pennsylvania who use technology in creative ways to engage learners and improve student performance.
As the winner of the Keystone STAR, Gillner was invited to participate in the Keystone Technology Innovators STAR Summit July 21-25 at Kutztown University. As part of the summit, these innovative educators collaborated and learned from one another. Attendees heard keynote speakers; shared lessons, strategies, and practices; and attended workshops to enrich their knowledge of best teaching practices. The summit was sponsored by the Pennsylvania Association for Educational Communications & Technology (PAECT), a nonprofit professional organization, with the support of Eduspire. Eduspire is a provider of graduate-level courses for teacher professional development whose goal is to transform teaching and learning through practical integration of technology.
Gillner has been teaching in the Fox Chapel Area School District for 17 years.
