FCASD Annual Telethon Benefits Make-A-Wish!
Fox Chapel Area School District students will hold their 29th annual telethon Friday, December 21, 2018, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. The telethon will raise money for Make-A-Wish® Greater Pennsylvania and West Virginia. The telethon will involve students from all six schools in the Fox Chapel Area School District (Fairview, Hartwood, Kerr, and O’Hara elementaries; Dorseyville Middle School; and Fox Chapel Area High School). Student, teacher, parent, and community representatives will be participating in the telethon benefitting Make-A-Wish by making donations during the live event. The public is also invited to make donations through the Make-A-Wish website at http://site.wish.org/goto/foxchapelschools.
The telethon will be available in high definition and will be streamed live on the Swift Fox Media YouTube Channel at https://www.youtube.com/c/swiftfoxmedia. The link to the broadcast will also be available on both the district’s website at www.fcasd.edu and Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/foxchapelarea. Anyone can watch the telethon any time after the live broadcast on the Swift Fox Media YouTube Channel.
The telethon is coordinated by the Fox Chapel Area High School Student Government and the digital media production students of the high school who plan and produce the event.
Make-A-Wish is a nonprofit organization dedicated to fulfilling the wishes of children between the ages of 2½ and 18 who are living with critical illnesses. Make-A-Wish Greater Pennsylvania and West Virginia has served nearly 19,000 children in 57 Pennsylvania counties and the state of West Virginia in its 35-year history.
The students in the Fox Chapel Area School District have donated nearly $806,000 to various local and regional charities through their annual telethon over the last 28 years. The fundraising for Make-A-Wish this year and last year is a return to the telethon’s roots as Make-A-Wish was the Fox Chapel Area High School Telethon’s first charity in 1990.
