The Fox Chapel Area School District boasts a robust and award-winning arts and music program with instruction beginning in kindergarten.
For decades, Fox Chapel Area has been known K-12 for its top-notch visual arts program. Fox Chapel Area High School received the vaunted Program of Distinction in the Visual Arts by the Middle States Association Commissions on Elementary and Secondary Schools. FCAHS was the first school – nationally and internationally – to receive the honor.
In order to meet the needs of a wide range of students with varying interests and talents, the high school offers multiple levels of computer art, ceramics and fibers, drawing and painting, jewelry and glass, and photography. Various Studio Art AP classes also are offered, as well as a portfolio class and art history course.
The Fox Chapel Area High School Music Department was the recipient of an “Exemplary Educational Program Credential” in music from the Middle States Association. Fox Chapel Area's music department was the first public school in the country to be recognized with this honor.
In addition, for the eighth year in a row, the Fox Chapel Area School District was named among the Best Communities for Music Education by the NAMM (National Association of Music Merchants) Foundation, which acknowledges and celebrates schools and districts across the United States for their commitment to and support of music education.
