Annual Tech Fee Program

The Fox Chapel Area School District is revising its tech fee structure for the 2023-2024 school year. While the district’s optional, nonrefundable tech fee will remain $30 per student for the 2023-2024 school year, the following fee structure will be in place for tech fee participants:

  • First repair: Free

  • Second repair: $20 (a decrease from $85 from the 2022-2023 school year)

  • Third repair: Full cost of repair or replacement cost of device

The district is pleased to offer the reduced $20 fee for a second repair for tech fee participants because of the success of the program and the district’s ability to now perform most repairs in-house.

Those families who do not participate in the tech fee program will be billed the full cost for repairs or the replacement cost of their student’s/students’ device(s). Please be advised that repair costs vary significantly depending on the damage. The replacement cost for iPads and Chromebooks is approximately $300 per device. Devices that are lost will be subject to a full replacement cost, regardless of participation in the tech fee program. Damages to a student's device found to be the result of intentional damage or willful neglect also will result in the student's parent/guardian being billed for the full replacement cost of the device, regardless of participation in the district's tech fee program. As a reminder, students’ iPads are to remain in their district-issued cases at all times.
