Get to Know the Library Staff
Meet Dr. Ward, Librarian
Before we begin, one thing you must know is that I am not a fan of the classics; Hemingway - blech, Steinbeck - yawn, Dickens - ok.
Now that we got that out of the way … Hi, I’m Dr. Ward, the high school librarian. I like to read anything YA, but mostly realistic fiction and historical fiction. I do like fantasy and sci-fi, but let’s keep that our little secret. I’m the assistant coach for both the girls and boys tennis teams, and I’m the faculty sponsor for the FC Book Club and Social Activism Club.
When I’m not on the tennis court, I can be found at the soccer field with my twin sons, who both play a lot of soccer. I’m usually the one with my nose buried in a book.
Meet Mrs. Ryan, Library Clerk
Mrs. Ryan may be known as the only sophisticated reader in the library, but she secretly loves a good People magazine puzzle.
Mrs. Ryan can often be found flipping through periodicals, always on the lookout for new sources for research projects, or rereading the Legends of Ireland while sipping tea from one of her many fox mugs.
Mrs. Ryan takes pride in her collection of fox-themed, well, everything. Dr. Ward is trying to convince her to switch to panda collecting, but that day will come when a lay person can give a summary of War and Peace without the help of SparkNotes.
Hi, I am Luka and I use they/them pronouns.
I am a senior this year (even though senioritis has been in effect since sophomore year).
Most of the books that I read are YA and fantasy books, especially ones with some romance in them. I have read two books over the past summer, even though I bought close to 10, but I hope to finish them all during this school year.
I am also a horseback rider, and currently ride twice a week. I play the violin and guitar in my free time and have a 9-year-old dog who is a sweetheart.
My name is Sophie. I am 15 years old and I love cats.
My hobbies include playing video games, baking, and reading. My favorite class is biology, and I love reptiles. I would love to pursue a career in herpetology, the study of reptiles and amphibians. I volunteer at Sara’s Pets and Plants, an animal rescue organization in Sharpsburg.
I own a fat cat named Simon and a leopard gecko named Bumble.
I like to read historical fiction, especially stories about the Holocaust.
Hi! My name is Anna, and I am a junior and member of the library QRT.
I am on the lacrosse team and play percussion in the marching band.
In my free time, I love playing with my chocolate lab, Rocket, and watching Grey’s Anatomy (Rocket’s favorite show).
My favorite book series is The Infernal Devices, and I am super excited to be in the library this year!
Hello, my name is Camryn! I am a junior and a member of the library QRT.
I am on both the field hockey and swim teams, and I also play the violin in the orchestra.
I love reading! A few of my favorites include The Mortal Instruments, The Naturals, and The Selection series, as well as any romance book.
I am vice president of the mythology club. I am also an active member of the environmental club, pottery club, and HOSA. I am super excited for this school year and hope to see a bunch of new faces in the library this year!
Hello, my name is Gabi. I totally, absolutely love to read stuff. I play varsity field hockey and run track in both the freezing winter and the rainy spring.
My hobbies include jewelry making and obviously reading.
I am the president of the mythology club for some reason. I am looking forward to manning the library desk and writing reviews on books. My favorite books are Song of Achilles and The Fault in Our Stars (which I made into a prose piece at debate in 8th grade).
Hi, I am Sasha (any pronouns), and I am the book club treasurer.
As a senior, I intend to blame senioritis for all of my poor decisions this year, as opposed to my previous policy of blaming everything except myself.
My interests include baking, swimming, hiking, music, and, of course, reading. I enjoy reading almost all genres (although I am partial to mid-nineteenth century English, Russian, and Malaysian satire, and less fond of horror), and have begun learning several languages to better appreciate non-English works.
Hi! My name is Tatiana, and I am currently a senior.
My hobbies include FC Crew (rowing) and Bots IQ (our high school's robotics team).
I love the library because it's a great collaboration place. From freshman year to senior year, I've always spent my QRT in the library with my friends. It's a great place to get together and review homework answers or work on labs. I love the library, too, because it offers an amazing community.
Hi, my name is Davina, and I am a current senior at FC.
My hobbies include annoying Dr. Ward, doing NYT puzzles with Mrs. Ryan, and sending emails for Tatiana :)
