Internationally-Known Author to Visit O'Hara Elementary

Internationally known children’s award-winning author and illustrator Dav Pilkey, of Captain Underpants fame, will be visiting with O’Hara Elementary School third grade students September 18, 2017, at 10 a.m. Pilkey’s in-person visit to O’Hara will be live-streamed through a videoconference to other interested schools in the Pittsburgh area.

The author visit at O’Hara is being sponsored through the Pittsburgh Arts & Lectures Words & Pictures program. During Pilkey’s visit, he will conduct a question and answer session that will be moderated by Stephanie Flom, the executive director of Pittsburgh Arts & Lectures. Questions will be asked by the O’Hara Elementary School students, as well as the students who are participating via videoconference. The O’Hara Elementary third grade students are currently reading and discussing some of Pilkey’s books.

Pilkey’s Captain Underpants series has sold 70 million copies worldwide. According to his website, he has written and illustrated numerous popular, award-winning books for children, including the Captain Underpants and Dumb Bunnies series; “Dog Breath,” winner of the California Young Reader Medal; and “The Paperboy,” a Caldecott Honor Book. He has also released a graphic novel series called “Dog Man.”
