| O'Hara Elementary Visits Bangalore, India O’Hara 5th grade student, Mihir Garimella recently traveled to Bangalore, India to visit family members. O’Hara Elementary is using technology to help make the world a little smaller. So, just before the holiday break, Mrs. Rimmel’s 5th grade class utilized the Internet software Skype to talk to Mihir. Skype is social networking software for making free calls over the Internet to anyone else who also has Skype installed on their computer. The students at O’Hara made the Skype connection at 10:30 am Pittsburgh time, and talked to Mihir at 9:30 pm, India time. With the help of Skype, all of Mrs. Rimmel’s students were able to see and talk to Mihir, even though he was more than 8,400 miles away. |
