Registration of children who will enter kindergarten in the fall of 2010 is scheduled in the Fox Chapel Area schools during the month of March.  An orientation meeting to acquaint parents with the kindergarten program and registration process is also scheduled in March.

Fox Chapel Area SchoolDistrict students held their annual telethon and raised $33.300 for the Luke Hadley Foundation. Fairview students and staff participated in a number of activities such as "Dress Like a Celebrity Day," "Pajama Day," "Hoops for Hadley," a dvd sale, and a collection of art supplies to contribute to this total.  View our presentation to catch a glimpse of the fun had by all while raising funds for this worthy cause! 

HOMETOWN ASTRONAUT VISITS FAIRVIEW SCHOOL

Colonel Michael Fincke, Pittsburgh native and United States astronaut, visited Fairview Elementary.  The Colonel enjoyed a luncheon with eight Fairview students, afterwards giving an hour-long presentation on the intricacies of extensive training and missions.

Howard Gardner’s Multiple Intelligence Theory serves as an excellent framework for finding strengths in all children. Research indicates that people are smart in different ways and learn more easily using different approaches.

Fairview provided children the opportunity to explore their own strengths at Multiple Intelligence Day. Children selected 2 of the 8 categories based on a survey each child completed. Children then participated in games and other activities that reinforce the various intelligences. Parent volunteers supervised each of the 8 stations.  View slideshow.
