•Professional Conferences and Organizational Leadership - For the 2008-2009 school year Norton Gusky presented at the Three Rivers Educational Technology Conference (TRETC) and was the chair of the conference planning committee. Mr. Gusky also presented with Kevin Conner at the PETE&C state conference on “Using Digital Resources: iTune U.” The presentation focused on the the district’s use of iTunes U to showcase student digital media and use iTunes as a resource for classroom instruction. Mr. Gusky became the co-chair for the national marketing committee for the Coalition of Schools Networked (CoSN).

•District Leadership - During the 2008-2009 school year the district began the three year revision of the Strategic Plan, including the Academic Goals and Standards, Professional Development Induction, Student Records, and Technology Plans. Norton Gusky served as the plan administrator. In addition, Norton Gusky worked with Lynne Porterfield, Coordinator of Special Education, to prepare the Special Education plan and submit the play by May 31 to PDE. Norton also coordinates the Classroom for the Future (CFF) project. This includes writing and evaluating grant information, chairing the CFF Leadership committee, and working with the CFF coaches to deliver professional development related to the project. During 2008-2009 Norton worked with Shelley Beck, the coordinator of secondary education, and Ron Korenich, the coordinator of elementary eduction, to implement a new curriculum management system from OnHand Schools. Norton designed templates and training materials, trained staff members, and worked as the contact with OnHand Schools.

•Conferences - Norton Gusky will attend the National Educational Computer Conference in June. At the conference he will meet with Edutopia, the online publication for the George Lucas Foundation. Norton will discuss with Edutopia ways to meet the needs of educational technology leaders in western Pennsylvania. At the 2009 TRETC gathering Norton Gusky will lead a workshop on the Essential Skills for a technology leader. In March 2010 Norton hopes to be a presenter at the Coalition of Schools conference in Washington, D.C. He will target the role of CFF student leadership program for his proposal.

•Strategic Plan - The building site-based teams will review the proposed Strategic Plan with revisions. Norton Gusky will modify the plan as necessary after review with the district administrative team. Norton will submit the plan for PDE approval in September.
