
The Fox Chapel Area School District contracted with Futuristics Research, a company specializing in educational research for K-12 schools, to conduct a survey of the graduates from the 2006 graduating class. The alumni study examined a number of facets of academic, social, and extra-curricular life for the Fox Chapel Area High School (FCAHS). Close to 40% of the alumni completed the survey. Overall, technology-related areas faired very well. The results for the class of 2006 were very consistent with the previous two classes that were surveyed. Below are some of the key technology areas.
Adequate Preparation for Employment Computer Skills - Summary
Among the respondents 100% felt adequately prepared in the area of employment computer skills.
Adequate Preparation for College /T.S. Research Skills/Abilities - Summary
Among respondents who have ever attended college/technical school, a majority believe they were adequately prepared for their college/technical school research skills/abilities. Specifically, 81.7% indicate this opinion.
Adequate Preparation for College /T.S. Computer Usage - Summary
A majority of respondents believe they were adequately prepared for their computer usage in college/technical school. Specifically, 89.5% felt adequately prepared in this area. Between the primary levels of courses, a majority of both groups of respondents felt adequately prepared in this area.

The Computer/Technology Skills according to Futuristics are rated higher than 95% of the average learning skills at FCAHS.
Next Steps:
For the 2009-2010 school year Futuristics will conduct a similar study of the class of 2007. Once Futuristics shares the results from the survey the high school administration will share the data with department chairs to investigate trends and patterns for the four graduating classes.
