Students to Compete in State-Level TSA Conference
Several Fox Chapel Area High School students recently qualified to compete in the Pennsylvania Technology Student Association (TSA) State Leadership Conference. The students qualified for states at the TSA Regions 1 and 6 Leadership Conference which was held January 20, 2018, at Blackhawk High School. Seniors Nathan VanDemark and Jorgen Wu and sophomore Aaron Wu all won two first places in the regional competition. Senior Elizabeth Mountz won second place in the regional competition and senior Nikita Bargaje won third place. The following 12 Fox Chapel Area High School students also qualified for the state competition: senior Karissa Becer; junior Alaina Kotchey; sophomores Hazel Cline, Joseph Johnson, Jacob Kosak, Jacob Rendall, David Shin, and Jake Sperry; and freshman Luke Johnson, John Polcyn, Anthony Shin, and Michael VanDemark.
The regional conference offered more than 31 state-qualifying events. It culminated with an awards presentation and closing ceremonies at which time many students were recognized for their achievements. The TSA Regions 1 and 6 Leadership Conference is the first of three levels of competitive conferences. The next level of competition is the Pennsylvania TSA State Leadership Conference which will be held April 18-21 at Seven Springs Resort. The third level is the National TSA Leadership Conference which will be held June 22-26 in Atlanta, Georgia.
