Students Named Winners in National Essay Contest

Fox Chapel Area High School seniors Jared Cohen and Allison Gould have been winners in the 2017 Founding Freedoms Essay Contest. Jared won first place in the twelfth-grade portion of the essay contest and Allison won second place. Jared received a $2,500 cash prize and a trip to Philadelphia in June where he will be honored as part of a special awards ceremony. Allison won a $1,000 cash prize.

The Founding Freedoms Essay Contest is sponsored by the National Constitution Center and funded through a grant from the John Templeton Foundation. The contest is designed to increase awareness of the rights set forth in the Declaration of Independence, the United States Constitution, and the Bill of Rights and to engage students to think creatively about our nation’s history, the Constitution, and protecting individual freedoms. It is open to students from across the United States in grades six, eight, and twelve.
