Students Place in German Day Competition
Ten Fox Chapel Area High School students recently placed in the annual German Day competition. Junior Emma Paulini won first place and sophomore Helen Paulini won third place in the fictional writing category. In the art category, junior Krista Spuhler won first place. Sophomore Cassidy Carson Love was awarded first place in the poetry recitation category and third place in the poetry writing category. In the drama category, the team of seniors Patrick Bernhard, Sarah Bernhard, Christina Brown, Daniel Garfinkel, Ruth Kollar, and Amelia Porter Bacon and sophomore Cassidy Carson Love won second place.
The German Day competition was open to middle school and high school students from across western Pennsylvania and West Virginia and was held March 17, 2016, at Washington & Jefferson College. More than 400 students participate in the event each year which is sponsored by the Western Pennsylvania/West Virginia Chapter of the American Association of Teachers of German (AATG).
