School Counselor Recipient of Yale Educator Award
Fox Chapel Area High School school counselor Rachel Machen has been recognized by the Yale Office of Undergraduate Admissions as a recipient of the 2015 Yale Educator Award. The Yale Educator Recognition Program recognizes outstanding educators from around the world who support and inspire their students to perform at high levels and to achieve excellence. A total of 276 educators were nominated for the award and 51 teachers and 28 counselors were chosen as recipients.
Machen was nominated by 2015 Fox Chapel Area High School graduate Rishi Mirchandani. Rishi is currently attending Yale University. Students are invited to nominate high school educators and a committee of Yale admissions officers reviews each nomination and chooses the recipients. The winners received engraved desk sets and congratulatory letters.
According to a press release, “The Yale Admissions Office attributes the exceptional quality of the Yale student body to educators like these recipients of the 2015 Yale Educator Award, who shape their students long before they attend Yale.”
