Fairview Elementary Heritage Day

Fairview Elementary School will host its annual Third Grade Heritage Day Friday, May 19, 2017. Fairview third graders have spent the last several weeks on a heritage project that involved interviewing a family member of their choice about their heritage and then researching the country they came from, writing a report, and creating a Google Slideshow presentation. The students will present the slideshow to their parents and classmates during the presentations on May 19. Additionally, each family brings a food dish specific to their culture to share.

The countries researched by the students this year include Australia, Austria, Brazil, China, Croatia, Czech Republic, England, France, Germany, India, Iran, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Philippines, Poland, Romania, Russia, South Korea, Spain, Syria, Taiwan, and Wales. The purpose of the annual heritage day at the school is to expose students to the many countries and cultures throughout the world and to celebrate the diverse community in the Fox Chapel Area.

The students will be making their presentations Friday at Fairview from 9:45-11:15 a.m. and from 1:30-3 p.m.
