DMS Students Place First in State in TEAMS Competition
A team of Dorseyville Middle School students placed first in Pennsylvania in the 2015 Technology Student Association (TSA) Middle School TEAMS (Tests of Engineering Aptitude, Mathematics, and Science) competition. The Dorseyville team members were seventh graders Hanna Chen, Serena Fisher, Rajeev Godse, Noah Hertzman, Rose Lee, Ameya Velankar, and Qingqing Zhao.
The TEAMS competition is an annual STEM-based (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) contest that promotes collaboration, critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills through real-world applications. The 2015 TEAMS theme was "The Power of Engineering." Students participated in a test consisting of 40 multiple-choice questions and another section in which students had to work together to write short essays explaining various engineering solutions. The Dorseyville Middle School students participated in a one-day competition in February at Pine-Richland High School and the Dorseyville team won first place against 14 other teams from across the state of Pennsylvania.
