DMS Talent Show to Raise Funds for Genius Hour Projects
Dorseyville Middle School students are holding a talent show Wednesday, April 15, 2015, to support Genius Hour projects. The show, entitled "Acts of Kindness," will feature Dorseyville Middle School students in grades six-eight and begins at 7 p.m. in the auditorium. All members of the public are invited to come and see the students showcase their talents to benefit two worthy causes, LiveLikeLou.org and Water.org. Admission is free, but monetary donations will be accepted at the door.
Genius Hour is a program that runs most Fridays at Dorseyville Middle School. Students choose an idea they want to explore and then research it and turn it into a project, with the middle school teachers serving as mentors. Many of the students design and conduct fundraisers and service projects for worthy causes for their Genius Hour projects. As a result, this year's talent show will raise money for LiveLikeLou.org and Water.org. Live Like Lou is a local organization that raises money to support those living with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), or Lou Gehrig's disease. Water.org is an organization that addresses water supply and sanitation needs in developing countries.
Dorseyville Middle School is located at 3732 Saxonburg Boulevard in Indiana Township.
