DMS Orchestras Win Awards

The Dorseyville Middle School Sinfonia and Philharmonic orchestras recently placed at a Music in the Parks Festival. The Philharmonic placed first in its division with a “Superior” rating. The Sinfonia also placed first in its division with a “Superior” rating and won first overall orchestra (which included both middle and high school orchestras). The orchestras received trophies for their winning performances.

The Music in the Parks Festival was held May 5 and 6, 2017, in Cincinnati, Ohio. More than 19 ensembles from schools from Indiana, New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, and West Virginia competed.

The Dorseyville Middle School Philharmonic Orchestra includes 64 students and the Sinfonia Orchestra includes 22 students, all in grades six, seven, and eight. The orchestras are under the direction of teacher Jeff Bryer.
